Quick tips for poisoning situations:
Call 9-1-1 if the victim is unconscious or is having convulsions or difficulty breathing.
Never wait until symptoms show up after an ingestion or incident with poisonous substances before seeking medical attention.
Never make the victim throw up because with some substances (such as kerosene and drain cleaners), vomiting can do more harm than good.
When flushing poisons out of a person's eye, rinse from the top of the nose toward the side of the face, away from the other eye.
If you have to go to the Emergency Department take the poisonous substance with you.
Most unintentional poisonings happen when a cleaning product is being used
If the victim has inhaled a poison, get the victim to fresh air as soon as possible.
